A designer and product developer
based by Lake Biwa, in Shiga, Japan.
I close the gap between the experience
you meant to deliver and the one that lands.
From UX/UI design to art direction and
building my own products — all by one pair of hands.
Takahiro Kinoshita · kinoshita studio
To me, design isn't about making. It's about aligning.
Between the experience a maker intends and the one a person
actually receives, there is always a gap. I observe that gap,
name it, and correct it. That is my work.
I begin every product from the same question:
"Why build this? Whose gap am I here to close?"
Not Tokyo, not Osaka — from Shiga.
The stillness of Lake Biwa resembles the way I think about design.
Vast, quiet, deep. It never raises its voice.
And yet, it is there.
BIWAKO SILENCE.
That is what sits at the root of the Kinoshita Studio aesthetic.
Why I made it. What question it holds.
Collected in my magazine, "On Translating Products" (in Japanese).
Design commissions, product questions, feedback —
every kind of message is welcome.
